Two of the main reasons why your skin loses elasticity and volume is because as you age your skin stops producing collagen and is unable to retain moisture. As such, your skin is more prone to developing wrinkles and lines, you might develop hollow cheeks, and your eyes can suffer from dark circles. Although expensive creams and lotions claim to restore that lost moisture, the truth is that they just don’t work as well as you want them to. Yet if you’re not ready to go through painful, invasive beauty treatments, you might think you have no other options left. But that’s where dermal fillers come in! Made of different kinds of substance, dermal fillers have been proven safe and effective at addressing various signs of aging.

Why are They So Effective?

The reason that dermal fillers are so effective is that they get at the root cause of your aging: that lost moisture and elasticity. They can also be used to solve any number of skin care concerns, including deep wrinkles, sunken cheeks, thin lips, laugh and frown lines, and drooping eyebrows. Dermal fillers are a non-invasive treatment that consists of several injections that have only mild side effects that go away quickly. Dermal fillers are also effective because they can last anywhere from months to a year. Below, you can read a little bit more about specific dermal fillers and how they can work to solve your specific skin care concerns.

Juvederm®

Juvederm® is actually a family of different fillers that can be used for different problems. Juvederm® Voluma can be used to fill out the face, while Juvederm® Volbella is used to plump up thinning lips and Juvederm® Vollure is perfect for treating harsh frown lines and wrinkles around your eyes and mouth. Juvederm®’s main ingredient is hyaluronic acid, which is a substance that naturally occurs in the body and helps the skin retain moisture and prompts collagen production. The results from Juvederm® can last up to 18 months.

Restylane®

Like Juvederm®, Restylane® also uses hyaluronic acid to achieve results. As a gel-like dermal filler, Restylane® and its heavy-duty counterpart Restylane® Lyft are used to correct deep and severe wrinkles. It can also be used to plump lips. Similar to Juvederm®, Restylane® also lasts up to 18 months.
