Dr. Porcia Bradford Love
Dr. Porcia Bradford Love is a Board Certified Dermatologist and the founder of River Region Dermatology and Laser. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama School of Medicine.
A native of Montgomery, Dr. Love graduated Class Salutatorian from the LAMP Program at Sidney Lanier High School, where she has since been inducted into the LAMP Hall of Fame. She attended the University of Alabama, where she was the recipient of both the Bloom and Sullivan Premier Awards, which are given to the top junior and senior, respectively. She was also recognized as the University of Alabama’s National Alumni Association Student of the Year.
Dr. Love received her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, where she was named the Student National Medical Association Member of the Year. She completed an Internship in General Surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center and her Dermatology residency at Duke University Hospital, where she held the honor of serving as Chief Resident. Dr. Love also completed a clinical research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, where her research focused on skin cancer in young women and minority populations. She received the National Medical Fellowships David Rogers Memorial Prize and the National Cancer Institute Fellowship Achievement Award for her research.
Dr. Love’s specialty interests include acne, pigmentation disorders, cosmetic dermatology, laser surgery, skin cancer prevention and treatment, and skin of color. Dr. Love has authored a number of peer-reviewed journal articles in Dermatology and is the co-editor of the textbook, Clinical Cases in Skin of Color. She is a frequent contributor in the Montgomery Advertiser, WSFA, and WAKA on various skin topics.
She has received honors for her leadership in Dermatology by the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, RSVP Magazine, Metro 360 Magazine, and the Montgomery Business Journal. She was recently named a 2018 “Woman Who Shapes the State” by AL.com and the Birmingham Media Group. She was also named a 2019 Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Honoree by the Alabama State University and Troy University Performing Arts Schools.
Dr. Love is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the Skin of Color Society, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. She is the current President of the Capital City Medical Society. She also serves on the University of Alabama’s Community Affairs Board of Advisors, the Leadership Advisory Board of the American Cancer Society, Leadership Montgomery, Medical Outreach Ministries, Jack and Jill of America, The Links, Incorporated, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Dr. Love is married to J C Love, III, an Attorney with Rushton, Stakely Law Firm in Montgomery. They have 3 young children — Caroline, Catherine, and James Christopher.
Brittany Nicole Boylan
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner
Brittany Nicole Boylan, CRNP, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has over 7 years of experience as a nurse practitioner with over 4 years specializing in dermatology. Brittany and her family are originally from Louisville, Kentucky where she received her training and education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from the University of Louisville (2006), a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Bellarmine University (2008), and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Spalding University (2012). After completing her education in 2015 Brittany completed a specialty-training program in the area of dermatology.
Prior to joining the team at River Region Dermatology and Laser Center and after relocation to Alabama (2017) she gained experience in the area of allergy at Alabama Allergy and Asthma Center in Birmingham. While there she was part of the clinical research team doing research in the area of atopic dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis is an area of interest to Brittany and she continues to grow and gain expertise in this area.
Brittany is married to Christopher Boylan, Sr the CFO of Urology Centers of Alabama in Birmingham and they have three children: Christopher, Jr (11), Annabelle (10), and Mary Catherine (6). Outside of work, Brittany is an avid runner completing several full and half marathons. She also loves to spend time in the kitchen preparing special meals and treats for her family.
Jo Shuford-Guice
Jo Shuford-Guice is a certified family nurse practitioner at River Region Dermatology and Laser. She has over 20 years of nursing experience, and in addition to Dermatology has an extensive background in Plastic surgery, Emergency medicine, and Cardiology. Jo was born and raised in Montgomery. She received her bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville State University and master’s degree from Troy University Montgomery. She currently serves as President of the Advanced Practitioners for the River Region. In addition to seeing medical patients, Jo also performs cosmetic procedures including dermaplaning, milia extraction, and mole removal.
Jo is married to Jason Guice and mother to 3 boys, Trippe, Robbie and Owen. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Rachel Franklin
Medical Aesthetician
Rachel Franklin is a licensed medical aesthetician, makeup artist and CoolSculpting specialist. She received her degree in Aesthetics from Skinactics School of Paramedical Aesthetics. She has been working in the cosmetic and aesthetic fields for several years. At River Region Dermatology and Laser, she performs procedures such as chemical peels, Silkpeel dermalinfusion, Exilis Ultra skin tightening, microneedling and Coolsculpting. She also assists with neurotoxin injections and fillers. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband and their 3 cats.
Beth Massey
Medical Aesthetician
Beth Massey is a licensed medical aesthetician, master cosmetologist, laser technician, and medical assistant. She received her degree in Aesthetics at West Georgia Technical College, where she also served as an Instructor with the Aesthetics program. Beth has been working in the cosmetic and aesthetic fields for several years, and she has worked in Dermatology and Plastic Surgery for over 5 years. At River Region Dermatology and Laser, she performs procedures such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser treatments, microneedling, and microblading. She also assists with neurotoxin injections, fillers, and dermatologic surgery. Outside of work, Beth enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter in Opelika.
Kimberlin Love
Practice Administrator
Kimberlin Love is the Practice Administrator at River Region Dermatology and Laser. A native of Montgomery, she received her Bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, DC. As Practice Administrator, she strives to create a friendly office environment with compassionate staff committed to helping patients with all of their dermatology needs. She also ensures the overall business operations of the office run smoothly, efficiently, and professionally. She is a member of the Association of Dermatology Administrators and Managers. Outside of work, Kimberlin coordinates logistics and devises public relations campaigns for presidential and senatorial candidates, members of Congress, mayors, and other high profile individuals.
Callie Mitchell
Medical Assistant and Medical Writer
Callie Mitchell is a Medical Assistant and the Medical Writer for River Region Dermatology and Laser. She was born in Albany, Georgia, grew up in Montgomery and currently lives in Millbrook with her husband. She graduated on the Dean’s List from Huntingdon College with a major in Cell Biology and minor in Creative Writing. Prior to entering the field of Dermatology, Callie worked for five years in Pediatrics. At River Region Dermatology and Laser, Callie enjoys working with pediatric patients, assisting the providers with procedures, and writing medical articles for the practice. In her free time, Callie likes to paint, sew, craft, and write.
Reta Jacks
Phlebotomist
Reta Jacks is a phlebotomist at River Region Dermatology and Laser. Reta attended Fortis College in Montgomery and has previously worked as a certified medical assistant and pharmacy technician. She has a wide range of experience and has worked with AEL Laboratories, Quest Diagnostic, Jackson Hospital, and Alabama Pathology Associates. Originally from Montgomery, she currently lives in Prattville with her husband Carl. She has two sons and one daughter.
Nakeita Morgan
Referral Coordinator
Nakeita Morgan is the Referral Coordinator at River Region Dermatology and Laser. Nakeita has worked in the medical and customer service fields for over 18 years, and she is also a certified phlebotomist. She received her associate’s degree from Troy University in Montgomery and is working toward her bachelor’s degree in psychology. Nakeita is married and has a teenage daughter and son. In her free time, she likes spending time with her family, traveling, and enjoying life.
Theresa Richburg, BSN
Theresa Richburg is a registered nurse at River Region Dermatology and Laser. She received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Theresa is responsible for reporting pathology and lab results to patients and reporting quality and meaningful use requirements for the practice. Previously, Theresa has served as the medical services director of the Alabama Medicaid Agency, a psychiatric clinical nurse instructor, a medical surgical staff nurse, and school nurse.
