Dr. Porcia Bradford Love is a Board Certified Dermatologist and the founder of River Region Dermatology and Laser. She is as also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, where she enjoys precepting and mentoring resident physicians and medical students.
A native of Montgomery, Dr. Love graduated Class Salutatorian from the LAMP Program at Sidney Lanier High School, where she has since been inducted into the LAMP Hall of Fame. She attended the University of Alabama, where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biology. During her undergraduate years, she was the recipient of both the Bloom and Sullivan Premier Awards, which are given to the top junior and senior, respectively, at the University of Alabama. She was also recognized as the University of Alabama’s National Alumni Association Student of the Year. Dr. Love received her medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine, where she was named the Student National Medical Association Member of the Year. She completed an Internship in General Surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center and her Dermatology residency at Duke University Hospital, where she held the honor of serving as Chief Resident. Dr. Love also completed a clinical research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, where her research focused on skin cancer in young women and minority populations. She received the National Medical Fellowships David Rogers Memorial Prize and the National Cancer Institute Fellowship Achievement Award for her research.
Dr. Love’s specialty interests include acne, cosmetic dermatology, melasma, laser surgery, skin cancer prevention and treatment, and skin of color. She has authored a number of peer-reviewed journal articles in dermatology and is the coeditor of the Springer textbook for Dermatologists, Clinical Cases in Skin of Color. She is a frequent contributor in the Montgomery Advertiser and WSFA on various skin topics.
Dr. Love is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the Skin of Color Society, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. She also serves on the University of Alabama’s Community Affairs Board of Advisors, the Leadership Advisory Board of the American Cancer Society, Leadership Montgomery, and Medical Outreach Ministries.
Dr. Love is married to J C Love, III, an Attorney with Rushton, Stakely Law Firm in Montgomery. They welcomed their first daughter, Caroline, in August 2015.
